CAMP EXPLORE'S BASE CAMP at MOUNT PURRO NATURE RESERVE

I. The Site

Camp Explore's headquarters and base camp can be found in Mount Purro Nature Reserve, in Barangay Calawis, Antipolo City. It is at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountain ranges surrounded by nature. Reforestation and community development work started in 1998. The facilities and amenities were formally launched in 2001.

It is a natural setting for camps, teambuilding, trainings, retreats, mini-conferences, strategic planning, outdoor/environmental/community involvement classes, workshops, and rest and recreation with families and friends. The air is fresh and it is mostly windy in the afternoons and cool at night and early in the morning.

II. FACILITIES

Mount Purro Nature Reserve has facilities conducive to suit your professional and informal events with the exceptional benefits of a very comfortable and beautiful setting at a very reasonable price.

Conference Hall

The conference hall is a multi-purpose area that can be designed to your function. It can accommodate maximum of 300 people at one time. The hall is open, providing visitors with an unobstructed view of nature. It has a garden-like bathroom within the area and is annexed with an outdoor kitchen. We are equipped to provide you with bamboo tables, monoblock chairs, and electric fans when needed.

Mini-Conference Room

The mini conference room is ideal for smaller meetings and can fit up to 60 people. It has a bathroom within the area. Similar to the conference hall, the mini-conference room is open, providing visitors with an unobstructed view of the trees surrounding the room.

Bonfire Area

What is camp without a campfire? Experience the bonding created around a campfire! Cozy benches and natural rock-stones are situated around the campfire. Together with the cool breeze and the starry skies that envelop the campers, the campfire is guaranteed to bring out fun and fond memories.

Asian Lounge

The Asian Lounge has a lot of Asian-inspired furniture that is inviting for visitors who simply want to sit back and relax. It is a calming space that may also be converted into a Meeting Room for small groups.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is surrounded with a view of the mountains. It uses a special health care system that reduces the use of cleaning chemicals that is very ideal for very sensitive skin (thanks to Tony Francisco for providing us with this chemical free pool... click here for inquiries re: set up of non chemical pool).

Game Room

The following games can be enjoyed in the Game Room:

      • table tennis
      • billiards
      • darts
      • mahjong/card game table (for 4)

Hiking Trails

For beginners and wannabes... we have hiking trails good enough to get your heart pumping and give you that workout your body needs! For those who want more challenges, we also have longer and steeper hiking trails.

Mess Hall

A camp isn't complete without a Mess Hall! Our Mess Hall doubles as a reception area and one of our main dining areas. The vigan tiles, the long, hardwood tables, and the paintings welcome the participants and make them feel right at home!

Ropes Courses

All our high and low ropes elements are not permanently fixed in order to keep the integrity of our ropes and equipment. As such, we put them in proper storage and away from outdoor elements, when not in use. Should you be interested in using the ropes courses, we require that we are informed at least 3 days before your event. A separate package is required for use of the ropes courses, which includes setup fees, riggers, facilitators, ropes, harness, helmets, and other equipment necessary. (click here to request for quotation)

High Elements: Slide for Life (zipline), Catwalk, Rappel, Rope Bridge

Low Elements: Spider's Web, Teepee shuffle, low V, high V, etc.

Biking Trails

Camp Explore in Mount Purro is surrounded by a lot of roads and trails that would be enjoyable and exciting for cycling enthusiasts. Hop on your bike and visit us! After you enjoy a good workout and take in the great view, reward yourself at Camp with our sumptuous meals and our calm and refreshing atmosphere!

Watch out for our biking trails for novices and our technical trails!

III. ACCOMODATIONS

Cottages
1. Duplex style
• We have 2 units in duplex style (cottages 2 & 3 and 5 & 6)
• Each unit is good for 15-20 participants.
• There is a room in every unit that has 2 single beds and a bathroom inside. Outside the room, there is a wide living space area with bay areas. Mattresses are used for sleeping in this living area. Another bathroom is located in the living area. A loft, accessed by a bamboo stairway leads to an area with 3 beds.
• Cottages 2, 3, 5 & 6 may fit a total of 60 to 80 participants.
2. Single style
• Cottages 1 and 4 are single units with a room with 3 single beds and a bathroom inside.
• In the spacious living area, mattresses can be spread good for 4-6 persons. A bathroom is located in the living area as well. Each cottage may fit 7-9 participants.
• Cottages 1 and 4 may fit a total of 14 - 18 participants.

All the cottages are screened. Electric fans / ceiling fans are available.

Cabins

There are 4 screened cabins good for 12-18 participants per cabin. Mattresses are laid on the floor and sleeping is tatami-style. Ceiling fans are provided. Because of its high location at the site, temperature drops at night and cool air envelops participants.

Tent area

If you want to rough it out and experience pitching your own tents, the tent area is a comfortable place. Areas have been flattened out for tents. An outdoor kitchen is presently under construction. The bathrooms in the Asian lounge maybe used for tent area users.

IV. MEALS

Enjoy home-style cooking with meals that are family recipes handed down through generations. Our visitors love our sumptuous meals (they love the beautiful presentations, too)! We have recipes to please the palates of meat-lovers and vegetarians alike!

Servings may be buffet-style, family-style or plated-we can work with whatever suits your budget.

Meals are served at the mess hall and snacks may be served at the different parts of camp.

Whether you are a day visitor, a food tripper, or an overnighter... you can enjoy a meal in Camp that is truly unforgettable.
